MOTHER'S HEALTH
Healthy Mother equals Health BabyYou owe it to baby to look after yourself.
Take your physical, emotional and mental health seriously and invest time and energy into each of these areas to make sure you can cope with the demanding schedule of being a mother.
Physical This is a time when the weight just falls off and that's not counting the baby and placenta! All that extra fluid the body has retained throughout the pregnancy now is lost through perspiration and urination. The uterus will start to shrink back to its normal size, around twenty five times smaller in about four weeks. Go Here
Emotional It will take awhile for the pregnancy hormones to completely disappear from your system. Don't feel you are a failure if you can't do everything at once. People will give you conflicting advice so remember that you can't please everyone. Find someone who knows what they are talking about, listen to them, agree politely with everyone else, and then use your common sense. Go Here
Psychological Post-natal depression is most likely to affect women in their first pregnancies, single mothers, Caesarean births and women who are in unsupportive relationships. Sleep deprivation is also a factor and it may be as simple as a vitamin or mineral deficiency. Go Here
Work and Motherhood Not everyone wants to be a stay at home mum and with new maternity leave options some mothers can return to work soon after giving birth. Make sure you do not underestimate the demands of a new baby if this is your first baby. You might consider working part-time.Go Here
Home Help You may be eligible for government assistance if you are unable to cope. Home Help is temporary income support to help with your costs if you've just had a multiple birth, have a domestic emergency or need domestic support with things like laundry, housework, cooking or childcare.
